Wayfinder, by London-based Hong Kong artist Justin Wong, depicts the moment a traveller embarks on a new journey upon arriving in an unfamiliar place. The drawing reflects the anxiety faced by most migrants as they start anew away from the place they had called home for years.
“This is the stylistic approach I have employed in my work, That City, since 2020, aiming to encapsulate the prevailing atmosphere using pencil drawing. In this particular piece, I have chosen to depict a perplexed tourist navigating the streets of London, symbolising the predicament faced by Hong Kongers. It portrays a sense of being lost, yet simultaneously marking the inception of a new journey.” – Justin Wong
