Michael Tsang is a lecturer of east Asian literature and popular culture at the School of Creative Arts, Culture and Communication in Birkbeck College, London. His writing has been published in Japan Forum, Inter-Asia Cultural Studies, Wasafiri and Sanglap: Journal of Literary and Cultural Inquiry. He is a founding co-editor of Hong Kong Studies (Chinese University of Hong Kong Press), a groundbreaking bilingual academic journal devoted to Hong Kong, and co-editor of Murakami Haruki and Our Years of Pilgrimage (Routledge, 2022). He is also a staff reviewer at Cha: An Asian Literary Journal, where he has built an extensive profile of reviews of Asian literature.
